I know when my dog let one, she would look up and walk to another room.  
In a minute, our eyes would water and we would be opening windows and 
then walking outside to see if anything was still alive.  Our two 
parrots would be saying something not repeatable on a family list.  Odd 
that the dog's were silent, but when a parrot rips one there is noise 
but no odor.  One of nature's mysteries.
