Nor I.

My tests have always been:
1) put lens on camera.
2) proceed to photograph subjects for client and/self.
3) if results satisfy client and self
= good lens
4) if results do not satisfy client and self
= not good lens (for me)

I did however test lenses I like on different films
and do so now on sensors (when possible)
to determine their actual aesthetic and rendering properties.
Though even these "tests" involve photographing subjects
for an aesthetic result I actually wish to accomplish;
never newspapers and brick walls (unless an exceptional brick wall).

I did however do extensive, boring testing of film and processing,
back in the day, because I believe strongly in the "zone" system
as an approach to understanding the dynamic range
of both films and sensors.
I like knowing where to find and place black
and where to find and place highlight detail.
Zone system thinking and testing
can be applied to digital photography;
including HDR work.

YMMV
