Ted' frame of reference is like comparing a redhead to a blonde......PJ or
AA Landscape

There are proponents of each... neither is right nor wrong......

Some other ways of saying this....

Whatever floats your boat
Different strokes for different folks

Personally, I do not usually think that photojournalism makes for fine
photography,,,,, ,My opinion.... Don't like it? Push the delete key.....

But it IS memorable photography..... HCB did this all the time... Capa
too.....

But most of us can not be at Iwo Jima ( sp?) or Paris or NYC at the worlds'
decisive moment ( not to leave Ted out, watching some PM put his fanny on
the handrail and sail down).... .. so our abilities to capture or even
compete with this kind of work is rather limited....

We each take our own path of photography... sometimes trying a new genre to
see if it fits ourselves.... sometimes ( rarely) it is PJ that works, ..
most likely landscape work or portraiture.,... but even with portraiture,
our kids are cute, but honestly, is it THAT interesting to see some other
parent's kids ( grandkids) portraits? Not really.....

Now a portrait of Eisenstadt would be something.....with more universal
appeal....

It is the universal appeal that makes an image "famous"....

Forget that it is in or out of focus, has proper exposure, or is in color or
B+W.....

Universal appeal .... that to me is what makes or breaks a photograph......

Remember the pictures of John John under Kennedy's desk? If it were YOUR
kid, it would be ho-hum.....

Define universal appeal....

Beats me....but know it when I see it.....
