I sure hope this ends up working out well in the fullness of time.
Right now I'm allowing myself to be cautiously optimistic.

It seems as if the Egyptian military have an unusual relationship with
the people because they aren't just an army.  Due to some historical
oddities, they're also a large business which sells the people a
bunch of stuff - so they presumably have a strong incentive to avoid
alienating the populace, and maybe even to try to ensure that the people
are prosperous enough to buy what's being sold.

I just hope the whole odd mix of incentives, institutions and
personalities ends up taking things in a good direction rather than bad.
