While the food on board may be wonderful, modern autofocus is very slow to work when the subject is swivelling, and swivelling is a feature of ships called "Poseidon". http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi922026777/ As you're talking about a voyage to Alaska from Vancouver, I'd have to point out that the necklace of earthquakes (and tsumanis) recently evidenced around the Pacific rim is coming to a locality near you and that cruise ships may look big but that doesn't place them in the invulnerable category.
