Howard OFFERED:

>>>Sal was a wonderful story teller.
It was a delight just to sit and listen to him talk about his white house
days, the Time cover days
(especially taking the cover picture of Canadian PM Brian Mulroney) and
other assignments. <<<<<

A side note to Sal photographing Prime Minister Mulroney. :-)

Sal and myself were covering the PM at the same time during the Canadian
Government Federal Election Campgain. We really didn't know each other at
the time other than a nod of the head as in "Hi!"

A few years later Sal was the guest speaker at the Leica Cape Cod Seminar
and gave a short presentation which to my surprise he opened with.... "Now
here's a talented Leica User hanging out with a beautiful woman!"

And up on the screen flashes a wonderful slide of the Prime Minister's wife,
"a smashing beauty at the time" and myself tete - a - tete nose to nose all
smiles! :-) OOPS!!!! Caught me as a good Leica shooter would shoot! I of
course had to exlain my way out of that one "very carefully!" :-)

I unfortunately never got a copy of said photograph. "Sal some day I'll get
you for that!" ;-)

cheers,
ted
