I read at the weekend of the death at 100 of Leopold Hawelka, founder of the
renowned Cafe Hawelka in Vienna. On a visit to Vienna several years ago I
asked to be taken to a traditional Viennese coffee house and I was told that
the one I was taken to was the last one remaining. I do not know whether it
was Cafe Hawelka or not, but I produced this image there, hand holding my
camera in pretty low light (film then, of course) and it is one of my firm
favourites. I hope you enjoy it too and maybe one of my Austrian friends
could confirm whether it was indeed Cafe Halwelka?
