I have 4 macs running
and the built in OSx calibration
works on 2 all 4 of them of them.

Hard to imagine that it wouldn't on yours.

Have you gone into
>Displays
>Color
>Calibrate
>Expert Mode (follow instructions)

Not using the Expert Mode won't get you vary far at all
