I don't fear death from my well water - yet.
I do have it tested once every 5 years or so.
(matter of fact we're about due)

I do use a Brita filter for my drinking water.
My house mates will only drink bottled water. ;~( 

(do watch the movie "gas land" to see the extremes some have to deal with
and we all may be moving toward)
