I think a lot of it has to do with a kind of brand loyalty or
perceived quality, not by the shooter but by the customer. The Pentax LX
was a better camera than the Nikon F3. More advanced in every way with
lenses that were at the very least every bit as good as Nikon or Canon
but here we are 21 years after the discontinuance of the LX and Pentax
is just a shadow of its former self.

We get into this gear vs gear talk all the time and what matters in the
end is the negative or print or scan or whatnot. Final output. Cause no
one can tell what you used if you did your job right with the camera. 
(don't be bringing up Holga vs Hasselblad either)
