I merely wanted to see how the "same" picture from an NEX-7 and an M9 would
compare. After all, what we compose and look at and appreciate and evaluate
is the qualities of the whole picture, not the differing portions of a scene
as captured by different-size sensors at the same actual focal length. Some
more technical comparisons of sensors and lenses would require one or both
to be identical, but not my purposes.

The matter of different a.) sensor sizes and b.) focal lengths is in the
first case therefore irrelevant, since it's one of the ground rules, and in
the second case necessary, since the idea is to compare the two cameras
recording the same photographic composition. One would hardly insist on the
same actual focal length for both lenses if one wanted to compare the
appearances of pictures from an interchangeable-lens camera and a pocket P&S
(if one had a good reason to do so).

The description one click into the album answers some additional questions
in the affirmative: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/hlritter/desktop_001/

I had hoped a tripod wouldn't be necessary with the camera braced on a
windowframe, careful technique, and a shutter speed of 1/500 at 90mm FL, and
I don't think I can see any evidence to the contrary, but the point is a
fair one, and I'll try to repeat the comparison in the next couple of days
using a tripod.
