Ric,
Start looking at these "Special Editions" as a Limited Edition Print, or a
work of art, or a limited run Ferrari,  meant to be displayed and not used,
and held for long term appreciation. It makes more sense to buy one from
that perspective. In fact, I am far more tempted by the Hermes edition, as
a part of what I call my "Alternative" investment portfolio (art,
photographs, collectables), which I am actively growing at this point of
time, than Leica's regular offerings right now.
