R lenses produce great results on an M240.

If...  you're shooting relatively static subjects such that the slowish
refresh of the Live View and any time it takes to pop in and out of
magnified mode for critical focus aren't a problem.

So maybe not ideal for actual live birds or people.  But for stuff which
doesn't move around fast, I'm actually really impressed with the image
quality.
