"Indefinitely" is a short time in the digital world.  Not like you can 
machine a part that is no longer available for an old M camera.  Sensors to 
fit will not be made at some point, probably nearer rather than further. 
Unless, they can, at Leica, remove the offending glass and glue a new one on 
the old sensor.

My understanding from reading This morning is that Leica will replace the 
sensor indefinitely. Check Thorsten Overgaards site as he has s new post up 
about the M9 with a lot of info that covers your question.
