The article suffers greatly from its total lack of visual examples; to 
substantiate such claims; doesn't even mention specific "artists" for us to 
reference. Makes the whole critique rather meaningless.

IMO? No matter what our age? we would do ourselves a favor to "keep up" not 
only technologically, but also aesthetically and conceptually.
