Subject: [Leica] Perspective | Meet the men living deep in the Ozarks, away from the fray from The Washington Post

The pictures tell it all, almost. Are these "free" people or do they only
wish to be considered as such? The gun, the shack, the pick-up truck:
symbols of an eden-like wilderness / frontier? Is this a chosen lifestyle?
Reminds me, all things considered, of this: "By the words, necessary of
life, I mean whatever, of all that man obtains by his own exertions, has
been from the first, or from long use has become, so important to human life
that few, if any, whether from savageness, or poverty, or philosophy, ever
attempt to do without it. To many creatures there is in this sense but one
necessary of life - food." (Thoreau, Walden, "Economy").

Cars, guns and glasses may be a given for you, and in part for no guns me.
But not for everyone on the planet (ask Tina in Bangladesh).

My reference to them was not about their value in bucks. Rather, I
questioned their mere existence in the community which to me seems to be the
limit of their ? retreat ? from the world as we live it, as they don?t seem
to offer alternative ways of doing so.

But yes, the photos are OK :-)
