We are told it, we believe it, but no one has seen the same sensor in the same camera with and without the "proper" glass interference filter in front of the sensor...... Yes, there is math that proves this from a theoretical point of view..... I know that... But if you want real proof you must do the experiments,,, and that info has not been shown to any us, that I am aware of......Including Erwin. Enjoy your M8.. it is the only game in town......and therefore the best there is......and that may be an absolute statement as well.... It was a major decision in the M8 to not include the IR filter..... they thought they could slip past the users without a comment... so much for that decision...... it was both a publicity nightmare ( think Intel Pentium calculating wrong scenario from the past decade or so) ..... and a failure for ease of use among photographers..... And the M9 will have the glass filter.....or so I predict..... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net >Not all of us M8 users consider it a "major faulty decision." >I love the increased fine image detail. >George Lottermoser Amen!! I think they used "Leica logic" in deciding not to compromise the quality of the camera and lenses by putting the filter on the sensor. I hope the M9 doesn't use a filter on the sensor that makes the image soft. I'd rather deal with an occasional magenta cast than a soft photo. Tina
