The French magazine Chasseur d'Images tested the Tri-Elmar-M 28-35-50mm
f/4 ASPH in their lasted issue (August-September).
Results: 4 stars (out of 5)...... 2 for price/performance

And that's the real reason why fewer and fewer working pros are using Leica
equipment - the lousy PRICE/PERFORMANCE ratio. While it's wonderful to have
equipment that can produce 40x50 blow ups from a 35, or that test out with
an extrodinary number of lines per inch or what ever, the reality is that
most people need excellent, not extraordinary, results that will reproduce
well under real-world circumstances - i.e., printed in a newspaper or
magazine - at a price that will still allow them to eat and have a roof over
their head.
