This is an old lens... the Vivitar Solid Cats from the 70's.  They sold a
600, 800 and maybe an 1100 MM.  Later there was a 450MM.
All used plastic front elements, and I believe that the design of a
catidioptric lens requires a non-spherical front element.  Produced by
Perkin Elmer of Connecticut.

I think these were the first high performance consumer ( non military and
non-underwater) lenses so designed with plastic Aspherical elements.
