Yea, I admit it is sometimes nice to have a point and shoot with a 300mm 
lens on it. So, matrix meter, bracket one stop on each side, with and 
without flash, and use a half roll of film to get the shot! :-)

Keep in mind that people have made prize winning photos in those 
situations for generations before matrix metering came on the scene too, 
so it is really just a matter of confidence and to some extent a 
replacement for intimate familiarity with the camera and film you are 
using.

But, I will give in to the idea of using matrix metering for some 
situations - but I maintain that it is just no fun. It's like buying a 
shot from one of the 100 pros that are programmed into the camera!
