I'm confused. TWAIN is an interface standard for scanners. There are TWAIN drivers which can be used under, say Photoshop, as opposed to dedicated scanning software such as Vuescan or any of the programs that control scanners.

I'm under the impression that TWAIN is sort of by-the-board these days.

And I'm not sure that the TWAIN interface has much to do with the speed of scanning.

I am, of course, likely to be completely wrong.
