Sorry ... I was afraid it might be a "Swecism".

In ancient Greek (through Byzantine times ... not all that ancient) ...
there was the "Golden thread". I think it became "red" in Swedish. I
translated.

I suppose it can be paraphrased as "the common theme", the binding factor
that makes sense of otherwise disparate ideas or non-related topics.

Not "red" as in political red. "Common ground".

Sorry, I did have a feeling it might be "translationese".
