More chips per 9" wafer, more profit to the chip manufacturer. Unfortunately, most people get 3.5x5 or 4x6 inch prints which means grandma gets her head cut off and junior just lost her feet because Dad didn't know that when he sent the image to Ofoto that his chip wasn't in the same ratio. I'd assume it would be more square than that. 2 over 3. I'd assume 3 over 4 which is the shape of an 8x10 sheet of paper. This would make more efficient use of the image circle.
