Subject: [Leica] Summilux - why a new one?

I have a Leitz Wetzlar Summilux-R f1:4/50 S#31698xx, non-Rom, 3 cam lens
which I use on both the R8 and the SL.

It has a very convenient one-part sliding lenshood which works quite
well, and the lens itself produces great photos... at least to my eye
and to a few brides.

So, what am I missing? What do the newer 50mm Summilux lenses have that
I need?

This isn't a rhetorical question... I really want to know.

Jim

P.S. Focusing tab? Is that something found on M, but not R glass?
