I was brought up on Contax RF cameras.  They are truly great.  But I do
agree with the theory that Leica would have had to perform to a much higher
standard, if there were real competition out there for the past 40 or so
years ( since the Nikon SP died.)  The lenses are not the issue here, it is
the body.

Nikon and Contax made really heavy cameras.  The Leica were much lighter.
Nikon and for that matter, Canon, were real innovators in the last years of
RF life.  Competition spices it up for all of us.  But the reality is that
Leica IS the only choice now, for all practical pupposes.  Hexar, Cosina,
Nikon ( S3), and Contax are really only skimming the market of Leica.

Now about that customizeable M that you always wanted....... the one with
the Panda colors on a Red Moroccan goat leather body with M6 rewind and M3
crank, and of course, the M3 rewind lever and lens locking ring.... doesn't
that just reek of innovation?
