Liked the excitement in your posts and for what it,s worth the age of your
eyes has little to do with it.From what i remember from my F5 days and
especially the latest 80mm Af lens on that body is that the AF system is way
faster then anyone could be.Not as accurate for static things but way better
for  moving targets.With loads of extras too like predictive AF etc.
