Subject: [Leica] leica branded lenses

What *is* up with Canon and Nikon "normal" 50's?  I'm a newbie, but
I've read tales of derring-do of fast 50's over the last few decades, but
neither kit seems to feature truly "world class" 50mm lenses. What a
shame!
