I'm a newbie. I got an N80 and a 50/1.8 about 18 months ago.
With some some online surfing, I came across the "try just a 50
for a month" exercise. So I did. And I'm really glad I did. Learned
a whole lot. Standing and breathing right for low shutter speed
shooting. Came to appreciate the biting sharpness of a prime (or
at least, that one). Discovered "finding myself in the right spot" for
a shot before putting the camera to my eye, and zooming with my
feet. For a newbie, this was quite an eye opener.

And some of the pics I took back then during that exercise I'm
still kind of fond of.

Lots of equipment reconfigurations later, I'm still fond of shooting
primes, even on my D70, to which a 35/2 is often found attached
(~52mm equiv FL).

Lately, I've been unhappy with the results of my (admitedly casual)
recent shooting. So I've decided to go back on the bandwagon. Just
a body (ok maybe more than one) and a 50 until Oct 1. I'm hoping it
will help me refine my technique and open my eyes again.
