Hi Jorg,
Welcome home to Kajaani and back online. :-)

A quick note on your adopted grand child photo. An attractive young lady.

If this picture was shot with window light as it appears, the next time
shooting in this same location may I suggest you look out the window before
you set her up, find some subject/object, it doesn't matter what as long as
the child will know what to look for when you ask her to look out the window
and find it. The object you want her to find must be something making her
turn her head slightly to her right, toward the window, but not to far
because then she'll begin to turn away from your camera angle. Just enough
for the light on her left cheek to become a slight upside down triangle
highlight with possibly catching a highlight in the eyes.

Best bet is to have a couple of things, nothing complicated but something
she'll probably have to look for and you can control her head movement
without saying something like, " turn your head more to the left." ... and
at that moment you now break into her thoughts that she's having her picture
taken.... You do not want that to happen, because you want her looking for
something that keeps her mind in action looking and her eyes alive with
thought because she's searching for something.

Now before you ask her to find your object you are ready to shoot with
camera up and set to go. Ask question, she turns head to look, light goes
into beautiful " shoot from the shadow side" effect and it's "CLICK!" :-)
You now have a beautiful portrait rather than a straight forward passport
type picture. ;-)

There now and I bet you remembered all that from the Leica Seminar, right?
;-)
