Thanks to everyone for your comments re. glasses, contacts, diopters and 
the Joys of Photographing When You're Over 50.  My close-in focusing 
issues seem to vary depending on how tired I am.  I hope I can hold out 
for a while longer, maybe until my next prescription change, but there may 
be progressives or trifocals in my future.  We'll see.
