Addendum to that. I think I meant to say BookSmart. This info from the
latest version help file

"Blurb books are printed at 300 DPI. The largest photos you can use - full
page pictures in our 13x11 book - should be no bigger
than 3900x3300 pixels. Placing images larger than this on a page in
BookSmart will not improve the end product, as our printers
print at 300 DPI. Larger images will simply make uploading more difficult,
or even impossible, and may also result in scaling
artifacts.

Please know that although 300 DPI is optimal, we can accept images down to
150 DPI. Know that at that size, your printed pictures
may not look as great as you'd like.

Here are the pixel specs for our four book sizes:

Square 7x7: Cover 2225 X 2142; Interior pages, full bleed: 2063 X 2067
Standard Landscape 10x8: Cover 3038 X 2555; Interior pages, full bleed: 2884
X 2471
Standard Portrait 8x10: Cover 2530 X 3080; Interior pages, full bleed: 2363
X 3000
Large Format Landscape 13x11: Cover 3955 X 3342; Interior pages, full
bleed: 3788 X 3263"

The BookSsmart software help also links to the ICC profile for the HP
printer used by Blurb printers. So you can soft-proof. However
note that Blurb says it does not honor profiles in uploaded pictures. Should
get you close though.
Cheers
Geoff

Mark, download the smartbook software.
The short version is 300ppi, sRGB, work out the size you want on the page
e.g. how much white surround. You can see some common
sizes recurring in last years book. I aimed to make mine about one of those
sizes. 7.6 in x 5.3 (2271x1538)that size this year,
rather than have the Blurb software resample my pictures.
Full page no margin 9.6x8.2 in
I went for 2280 px by 1500 px (landscape). Of course 300ppi in your file is
not the same as printing resolution but, functionally
close enough.
Cheers

I've been on the Blurb site for a half hour cant find a hint of the kind of
specs which would be ideal or close for these pix or any
specs at all.
Can anyone give me a hint were to look or what they are?

What's a cubit?
