Don't buy a pinball machine from someone's garage. Get it from a 
professional who's refurbished it, because it's going to break. Possibly not 
infrequently, and you want the smallest number of those breakages to occur 
while you actually own it, getting a refurbished one means that all the 
bumper arms have been replaced and such. (Mine came with a soldering iron, a 
roll of solder, 20 spare lights and a dozen fuses.) Expect $1,500 as a 
starting price and once you get over that, you'll be okay. $3,000 will get 
you something really @$#% cool.
 
Mata Hari you can get refurbished for about $1,200. It's nice looking, but I 
think the play gets dull quickly. You want something that's going to keep 
you entertained a LOT. 
 
If you put it in the waiting room of your leica repair shop so that people 
can amuse themselves while you're fixing their leicas, it may possibly be 
tax deductable.
