It has been said, "you experience what you believe."
in contrast to, "you believe what you experience."
to try and explain the vast differences in human perception.

It seems, at times, people cannot truly see reality
because their preconceived beliefs filter their perception.

In this case it does not look like a "straight" [photograph] picture  
to me.
It looks like a professionally designed magazine cover,
complete with typography, nameplate, etc.
The creators obviously intend for the words and graphics
to interact with each other in a very compelling manner.

In order for it to look like a "straight" photograph
you'd have to psychologically erase its own "reality" as a magazine  
cover;
make the typography and nameplate invisible in your mind.
