Here in the UK a M9 is ?4950, a Nikon D3x is ?4825 discount, it has dropped
quite a lot since supply has caught up with demand, and a Canon EOS 1Ds mk3
is
?4500, it has dropped about a grand in the last few months.
Maybe like them the M9 will drop the price when production can keep up with
demand, but as you say, unlikely to halve the price when the nearest matches
in
picture quality from huge mass production companies with loads of high
volume
models making the profit are still around the same price.
In the end the price is pretty well what one may expect from the quality
produced.
IMHO

Over the past 18 months, the Dollar to EURO is about even..... It has gone
up, down and sideways, but overall, a constant.

Raising the price on an already very expensive camera is not a good idea,
especially when supply catches up with demand.

Anyway, while I would love to own an M9 in lieu of my present M8, the M8
still works, and is in warranty, I think the M9 would need to be 1/2 of its
present price to get me to
Pop.

Ain't likely.....

USians are lucky the M9 hasn't gone up...
