Subject: [Leica] OT (very) The Great Prostate Debate: Does Screening Save Lives?: Scientific American

Speaking as someone whose family has a history of prostate cancer, and of
cases where prostate cancer was correctly diagnosed at early stages so that
treatment could be undertaken at a point when lives were saved, I have to
say - with no personal animus toward anyone here - that I find this
discussion extraordinarily offensive.

The fact that un- or under-qualified clinicians misinterpret results and
recommend unnecessary treatment does not change the fact that this screening
can and does save lives if done professionally and responsibly.

Rant off.
