Subject: [Leica] Nikon D800E vs. D800

Sharpness tests of lenes and sensors are so difficult with digital.
A main reason being is the open ended issues "what constitutes reasonable
software sharpening and how much was used here?".
The answer in this example is "none". There was no sharpening done.
This makes the comparison meaningless for the most part.
Omitting sharpening from your normal workflo in digital is just not an
option.
If I was attempting to illustrate such a comparison I'd at least do what I
considered to be a typical or normal amount of unsharp mask and state what
that was.

Also there is no instituting of normal workflo software on the 800E on the
Moir? issue. And anyone using the 800E would have the use of the anti Moir?
software as a basic part of their workflo just like the guys using the plain
vanilla 800 would have unsharp mask or other third party sharpening software
as is commonly used as an integral park of their workflo.

A tool is nothing if its not being used right. When you discard software
from a digital camera test is like disregarding the use of a steering wheel
on a car test. The car just really needs that steering wheel... Or in a real
sense its just not a car.
