Both you and Ric were clear to me, I think, Jim :-)
Silver FX pro won't be able to do much with the MM file since it needs the 
colour information to do the appropriate B&W calculation. All P&S cameras 
are colour so they -can- do these things easily. The MM is not so nothing 
one can do with software after the picture is taken will be equivalent to 
using a colour filter over the lens to take the picture. The data just isn't 
there to do the calculation on. If you want to do this you need a normal M9, 
with a bit less resolution and a stop less sensitivity, and already has a 
B&W option, though I haven't tried it.

Personally I would have no use for this camera, so perhaps I am being 
excessively negative.
