Steve,
Conclusions quoted verbatim below - from the March 26th issue of Amateur
Photographer.
Cheers
Jayanand

Conclusion:

Although the Leica M9 is now almost three years old, its image quality when
shooting RAW images is still a match for its modern counterparts. The rest
of its specification does look a little dated, though. The high resolution
and extended features list of the Sony NEX-7 makes it a serious candidate
as an affordable alternative to the M9, but using one is a very different
experience. If you like the idea of a high-end compact system camera and
are more used to a conventional DSLR, then the NEX-7 is probably the camera
for you.

However, if you are looking for an experience that is more akin to using an
M9, then the Fujifilm X-Pro 1 is the best alternative. Its RAW and JPEG
images are excellent, and the camera's build and hybrid viewfinder are more
than a match for the M9 - in many ways the X-Pro 1 is actually better, and
significantly less expensive.
