But in this case, they are the manufacturers - akin to Samsung or
Whirlpool waiting for parts at their main facility, not your repair
guys waiting for parts. (-:

Most luxury goods manufacturers of similar items (watches, pens, etc)
stand behind their products for at least 25 years, "lifetime
guarantees" are not uncommon, even Cross have one. Patek or IWC will
repair any watch they have ever made, even the quartz ones, but Rolex
won't, they have the aforementioned 25 year limit, after which they
sell all the parts they have to the highest bidder... In this context
I thought 5-10 years might be a fair time for a digital camera from a
luxury marque.

In case you need Rolex repairs, these guys seem to have cornered most
of the old parts:

I have had a couple of old Rolex watches repaired/serviced by them,
and they do a decent job. I see they have a very tempting IWC Mark XI
for sale....
