First of all, that is what I said... the inevitable choice is AF or find a
new hobby/profession. There IS no other choice. This is true with todays'
product offerings.

But, Tina, wait..... the EVF cameras now starting to appear with Pro quality
lenses. In a couple of years, the mirrors, prisms, etc of an SLR will go
away and you will left with what is basically a Leica-like shutter and no
other noise nor bulk. Why will it happen? Because the camera makers will
see that all the mechanics of their cameras can be eliminated, saving cost
in both componentry and especially complex and accurate assembly. These EVF
Cameras will become ubiquitous in a few years, just like Cell Phone cameras.
Look at the Sony ( a ELECTRONIC company, not a mechanical company) A7r for
guidance at where these cameras are heading. Note that Nikon is announcing
a new camera in a few days which also has a EVF built in..... but also,
maybe, a traditional optical SLR finder. A hybrid design. It IS
happening.

As much as sometimes I am a bit "out there" with what I want, Leica will too
see the inevitable.... an EVF camera.. They have already taken the first
step.....

As I remember it, you purchased a M(240) recently, and were thinking about
the external EVF for it..... I would be very interested in your comments on
its usability and limitations... especially as it pertains to VF quality and
ease of focus through the VF......

Note: My 8008 had rudimentary AF. Jayanand is correct in stating that no
current AF camera works as badly as my old 8008. Technology moves on.....
So will your eyes. Yes, you must point it at the right thing to get the
image focus plane where you want it, but that is true with your Leicas as
well.....

You WILL get to the point that AF cameras will be your only choice. But the
electronic VF, with constant brightness, a good fine resolution screen, the
ability to focus like an SLR ground Glass ( anywhere in the image, anytime)
will put that inevitability off.
