Hi, Ted,

Well, I was going to write you off list about this, but since you've mentioned
it on-list...

I was in Nicholas Hoare's (one of Toronto's better booksellers) about 2 or 3
weeks ago, and saw your book (prominently displayed, I might add <g>). Being
relatively new to this list, I noticed your name, and wondered if indeed it was
the same Ted Grant from LUG. Then, in the preface, you mentioned using Leicas
for your shooting, so I knew it was you!

It is truly a wonderful work, Ted. It's so easy to be cynical these days -
doctors and hospitals being sued for malpractice, Canadian doctors running down
to the US for the big bucks, the whole medicare debate. This book reminds us
that these people are truly heroes (and as a dyed-in-the-wool cynic, "heroes" is
a term that I feel is overused these days).

Your photos show something of these health professionals' personalities, their
dedication, their stamina, their expertise.

Congrats on an inspiring work, Ted. I hope everyone here gets a chance to look
at it.

cheers,
frank
