Hi Jonathon,
I always come to the security point well prepared with a smile, good 
morning, yes ma'm, no sir, good day etc. And no matter how pissed off I 
maybe at the end, it's always "thank you."  Even though inside I'm a 
seething mass of wanting to scream my head off about their completely 
asinine stupidity! :-(

Quite simply put... "we are completely at their mercy" and all the huffing & 
puffing will only get you a walking ticket to your destiny.

Well they'll do that alright as I found out when Sandy and I were shooting 
the Women in Medicine book. Happened in Victoria within a ten day turn 
around. Out to some place and going out ten days later and I recognized the 
gal before she said anything.

I open my bag and she says, "I know you, I saw this stuff not long ago, you 
must fly a lot?"  I smile and asked, "How are things with the Sea Cadet 
folks?".  I recalled she'd said something about working with kids in the 
Canadian Sea Cadet's in town while she did the previous inspection.

Now that kinda set a nice touch, she had a quick look, a swab in the bag and 
sent me on my way with both of us smiling.
