I'm not a Apple proselytizer, I'm actually rather ambivalent toward
the brand itself and their aggressive, uniform branding strategies.
It's all a little Brave New World creepy for me. That said, I buy for
OS X and OS X alone - on that note:

OS X comes with its own free browser and e-mail client (Safari and
Mail), you can also download Firefox and its e-mail client for free,
there's an OS X only Mozilla browser available (Camino), etc. I'm not
sure how Windows has the advantage here, as you can even download
Internet Explorer (if absolutely necessary) for OS X.

Prices, I find, are even across the board. There actually seems to be
a greater wealth of usable, productive free and shareware software for
OS X.

The software advantage, so far as I can tell, applies primarily to
Microsoft products (their fault Office v.X is terrible) and games. I
don't play games and got my Office suite for $10 through the
university, so there's no disadvantage on my end.
