In a nutshell, commercial photographer Guy Mancuso had been using a 
Canon 1D2 Mk II and had a job where he needed to use a Leica-R lens.  
He liked the results so much that he bought another R lens, then 
another, and another, each time liking the results better than he'd 
been getting with his equivalent Canon L lenses.  Pretty soon he 
realized all his lenses were Leica, so next he tried the DMR - liked it 
so much he sold his Canon bodies and bought a second DMR.  Oh what a 
slippery slope we find ourselves on when we first try "just one" Leica 
lens.  Anyway the linked thread goes on for 1200 pages and has drifted 
off-topic but in the earliest posts are numerous comparisons of DMR and 
1Ds MkII output.
