Film & Processing = $5-$10/roll (roughly $.15 - $.30 per frame) win  
or lose.
And you've not yet achieved a print or file for viewing. (of course  
if you're shooting chromes you have something.)
Now with your $600 coolscan you'll spend 2 - 8 minutes per image to  
get a digital file, before dealing with the dust or any corrections.

Apparently you don't value your time, and enjoy scanning. ;^)
