Sorry guys I know I'm going to ask a stupid question. But here goes anyway.

Given the M8's I've used with my Leica glass along with the VC 35 1.2 and
15mm with no coding and apparently had excellent results, pray tell what
magical things happen when you mark up your lenses with black felt tip
markers?

Is this the ? What was it $125.00 per lens for coding? A black mark from a
felt tip pen?

And for what?

Like what do you really see different with and without? Can you with your
native eye balls see a better picture with coding or a worse picture
without? Or is this just another one of those techie crap items that serve
absolutely no purpose in producing a better photograph? But excites techie's
all to hell because it's another number to make the digital camera
supposedly work better? However means diddly squat if you don't understand
how to use light!

And is it absolutely essential for successful picture taking with an M8? Or
is this another case of me being lucky and attaining wonderful results
simply because I didn't know I wasn't supposed to get interesting results
without felt tip marks on the lens?

In other words. "What you don't know wont hurt you, so just do it!" And
take pictures like you've always done and it works?

Ok so it was more than one question. Live with it. :-)

Answers, please and thank you. "KISS!" don't forget I'm a photojournalist!
Not a techie person. Therefore please keep your answers very simple. Thanks
again.
