Erwin is usually right ( when was he ever wrong?)..... And his testing,
while not really scientific, is consistent in methodology and well thought
out.

Look, how else but a few "perks" can someone afford a set of 4 new Leica
lenses, the total price of which would cost around the same price as a PAIR
of cars?

As long as he keeps it up, why not use his expertise as one of the ways to
evaluate Leica glass...

Erwin's 
relationship with Leica is well known.  Who 
cares?  He is a patient, careful, and decent 
scholar.  And he has to make a living.  There is 
no problem that he receives some perks from 
Leica.  It is his expertise that we value, not his bank balance.
