Amen!  I put this trick to use this afternoon with a 28 Summicron on the X 
Pro-1. With  the camera a set to f8 and 1/1000th (it's very bright here 
today) and the lens at hyperfocql distance, I was able to just put the 
camera to my eye and shoot as action occurred. It's faster than autofocus 
and a lot more fun. It also makes using manual focus lenses a pleasure.  I 
had forgotten how useful hyperfocql settings can be.
