It was not that my husband bought me something expensive and I was
insulted. It was the implication that I could not buy the item for myself
through my business. Tom and I share everything in the household and have
a joint account for all of our money; however, he keeps separate books for
his engineering company and I keep separate books for my photography
company. That is just necessary for taxes. I also have to make a profit
through my business or it is no longer considered a business but a hobby.
That is not cultural differences. That is business.
