[Leica] Politically Incorrect terminology

Wow, George, this is really off the mark. I come from a  era where pretty 
did not carry any sexual connotation, and my friends of younger ages don't 
really ever use the term.

I have become more concerned with our use of language in the USA. I feel 
that vocabularies are shrinking and terminology becomes more imprecise, such 
as the current use of the word shading when vignetting is more correct. I 
think that results from poorly educated and trained photographers becoming 
internet reviewers, where there is no editor, and just making up words to 
describe things.

There are many terms that have come up in this discussion that for many 
years simply described gender. Calling a girl pretty narrows that down a 
bit, but wince when is it wrong to say a pretty woman is pretty? There is no 
sexual connotation other than one that appears in your mind, of your own 
doing. Don't transfer your personal problems on all others.

And face it. If you don't want others making such comments in whatever vein 
they prefer, don't put the damn photo on the internet. And to say that I 
should not photograph girls, pretty or otherwise, is putting yourself in a 
position of authority to which you are not qualified. You sound disturbingly 
like today's "Helicopter Parents."

This subject has degraded at every turn to utter foolishness from people 
putting themselves on their high horse. Get off and end this.

I think "pretty" overly sexualizes the comment. What if this human being was 
your daughter? Do you really want men on the Internet looking at her 
picture? saying, "pretty"? Straight men should not create, look at, or 
comment on photographs of female human beings - each of which is potentially 
a daughter, sister or mother of a strong self righteous man who must protect 
them.
